Fonction exponentielle

1ère Spécialité Mathématiques · Cours concis · Sans démonstration

1. Définition

Propriété et définition (admise)

Il existe une unique fonction dérivable sur R\mathbb{R} telle que f′=ff' = f et f(0)=1f(0) = 1.

C'est la fonction exponentielle, notée exp⁡\exp.

  • Pour tout réel xx : exp⁡′(x)=exp⁡(x)\exp'(x) = \exp(x)
  • exp⁡(0)=1\exp(0) = 1

2. Propriétés fondamentales

Propriété — Non-annulation, positivité

  • Pour tout x∈Rx \in \mathbb{R} : exp⁡(x)≠0\exp(x) \neq 0
  • Pour tout x∈Rx \in \mathbb{R} : exp⁡(x)>0\exp(x) > 0
  • Pour tout x∈Rx \in \mathbb{R} : exp⁡(−x)=1exp⁡(x)\exp(-x) = \dfrac{1}{\exp(x)}

3. Relation fonctionnelle et propriétés algébriques

Propriété — Relation fonctionnelle

Pour tous réels xx et yy :

exp⁡(x+y)=exp⁡(x)×exp⁡(y)\exp(x + y) = \exp(x) \times \exp(y)

La fonction exp transforme une somme en un produit.

Propriétés algébriques

exp⁡(x−y)=exp⁡(x)exp⁡(y)\exp(x - y) = \dfrac{\exp(x)}{\exp(y)}
exp⁡(nx)=(exp⁡(x))n(n∈Z)\exp(nx) = (\exp(x))^n \quad (n \in \mathbb{Z})

4. Notation exe^x

On pose e=exp⁡(1)≈2,718e = \exp(1) \approx 2{,}718. Pour tout réel xx, on note ex=exp⁡(x)e^x = \exp(x).

Propriétés — Tableau de référence (admises)

e0=1e1=eex>0e−x=1exex+y=ex×eyex−y=exey(ex)n=enxea<eb⇔a<b\multicolumn2cea=eb⇔a=b\begin{array}{ccccc} e^0 = 1 & e^1 = e & e^x > 0 & e^{-x} = \dfrac{1}{e^x} & e^{x+y} = e^x \times e^y \\[8pt] e^{x-y} = \dfrac{e^x}{e^y} & (e^x)^n = e^{nx} & e^a < e^b \Leftrightarrow a < b & \multicolumn{2}{c}{e^a = e^b \Leftrightarrow a = b} \end{array}

5. Étude de la fonction

Propriété — Monotonie

exp⁡\exp est strictement croissante sur R\mathbb{R} car exp⁡′(x)=exp⁡(x)>0\exp'(x) = \exp(x) > 0 pour tout xx.

Propriété — Limites (admises)

lim⁡x→+∞ex=+∞lim⁡x→−∞ex=0\lim_{x \to +\infty} e^x = +\infty \qquad \lim_{x \to -\infty} e^x = 0

L'axe des abscisses (y=0y = 0) est une asymptote horizontale en −∞-\infty.

Tableau de variations :

x−∞+∞exp⁡′(x)+exp⁡(x)0↗+∞\begin{array}{|c|ccc|} \hline x & -\infty & & +\infty \\ \hline \exp'(x) & & {\color{green}+} & \\ \hline \exp(x) & {\color{blue}0} & \nearrow & +\infty \\ \hline \end{array}

Valeurs remarquables : exp⁡(0)=1\exp(0) = 1 et exp⁡(1)=e≈2,718\exp(1) = e \approx 2{,}718.

6. Dérivées

Propriété — Dérivée de e^(ax+b)

Soient a,b∈Ra, b \in \mathbb{R}. Si f(x)=eax+bf(x) = e^{ax+b}, alors ff est dérivable sur R\mathbb{R} et :

f′(x)=a⋅eax+bf'(x) = a \cdot e^{ax+b}

Propriété — Dérivée de e^u (admise)

Soit uu une fonction dérivable sur un intervalle II. Alors :

(eu)′=u′⋅eu\left(e^u\right)' = u' \cdot e^u

Exemple : si f(x)=ex2+3x+1f(x) = e^{x^2 + 3x + 1}, alors f′(x)=(2x+3) ex2+3x+1f'(x) = (2x+3)\,e^{x^2+3x+1}.
