1. Définition

Fonction logarithme népérien

La fonction logarithme népérien est la bijection réciproque de la fonction exponentielle :

ln⁡:  ]0;+∞[⟶R\ln : \; ]0;+\infty[ \longrightarrow \mathbb{R}
y=ln⁡x  ⟺  x=ey(x>0)y = \ln x \iff x = e^y \quad (x > 0)
  • ln⁡1=0\ln 1 = 0, ln⁡e=1\ln e = 1
  • eln⁡x=xe^{\ln x} = x pour x>0x > 0, ln⁡(ex)=x\ln(e^x) = x pour tout xx

2. Propriétés algébriques

Relations fondamentales

Pour tous a,b>0a, b > 0 et n∈Zn \in \mathbb{Z} :

ln⁡(ab)=ln⁡a+ln⁡b\ln(ab) = \ln a + \ln b
ln⁡(ab)=ln⁡a−ln⁡b;ln⁡(1a)=−ln⁡a\ln\left(\dfrac{a}{b}\right) = \ln a - \ln b \quad ; \quad \ln\left(\dfrac{1}{a}\right) = -\ln a
ln⁡(an)=nln⁡a;ln⁡(a)=12ln⁡a\ln(a^n) = n \ln a \quad ; \quad \ln(\sqrt{a}) = \tfrac{1}{2}\ln a

3. Étude de la fonction

Dérivée et variations

(ln⁡x)′=1x>0sur   ]0;+∞[(\ln x)' = \dfrac{1}{x} > 0 \quad \text{sur } \; ]0;+\infty[

ln⁡\ln est strictement croissante sur ]0;+∞[]0;+\infty[.

Limites

lim⁡x→0+ln⁡x=−∞;lim⁡x→+∞ln⁡x=+∞\lim_{x \to 0^+} \ln x = -\infty \quad ; \quad \lim_{x \to +\infty} \ln x = +\infty
lim⁡x→+∞ln⁡xx=0;lim⁡x→0+xln⁡x=0\lim_{x \to +\infty} \dfrac{\ln x}{x} = 0 \quad ; \quad \lim_{x \to 0^+} x \ln x = 0

4. Dérivée composée

Formule

Si uu est dérivable et u>0u > 0 :

(ln⁡u)′=u′u(\ln u)' = \dfrac{u'}{u}

Exemple : (ln⁡(x2+1))′=2xx2+1(\ln(x^2+1))' = \dfrac{2x}{x^2+1}.

5. Équations et inéquations

Méthode

Pour a,b>0a, b > 0 :

ln⁡a=ln⁡b  ⟺  a=b\ln a = \ln b \iff a = b
ln⁡a<ln⁡b  ⟺  a<b\ln a < \ln b \iff a < b
ln⁡a=b  ⟺  a=eb\ln a = b \iff a = e^b

Attention : toujours vérifier la condition de positivité avant de résoudre.

Récapitulatif : à retenir absolument

ln⁡(ab)\ln(ab)ln⁡a+ln⁡b\ln a + \ln b
ln⁡(ab)\ln\left(\dfrac{a}{b}\right)ln⁡a−ln⁡b\ln a - \ln b
ln⁡(an)\ln(a^n)nln⁡an \ln a
ln⁡1=0,  ln⁡e\ln 1 = 0,\; \ln e11
(ln⁡x)′(\ln x)'1x\dfrac{1}{x}
(ln⁡u)′(\ln u)'u′u\dfrac{u'}{u}
lim⁡x→0+ln⁡x\lim_{x\to 0^+} \ln x−∞-\infty
